A walk-through area with
streams, grottoes, and pure nature. The separation between yourself and the animals is
virtually undetectable. This portion of the park is a very relaxing, easy-going section to
take in. Designed to be an entrance to all the
"lands" of Animal Kingdom, the oasis is a tiny kingdom, in and of itself.
Tropical gardens and scads of animals greet guests as they enter the park. Wild deer,
macaws, anteaters and tree kangaroos inhabit the grounds. Waterfalls, grottoes, streams
and meadows promise excitement and adventure around every corner.
Visitors can find scarlet ibis nesting in grounds of The Oasis and you just might catch a
glimpse of the two-toed sloth, if your timing is right.
The Oasis also houses the usual assortment of theme park amenities including rest rooms,
guest services, automated teller machine, drinking fountains, gift shop, lockers and
stroller/wheel chair rental stand.
Dining and Shopping: Less than 10 miles away from their flagship restaurant in
Orlando (at Downtown Disney), the Rainforest Cafe at Animal Kingdom services both guests
of Disney's Animal Kingdom park and outside patrons as well. The outside of the restaurant
is designed to be a 40-foot waterfall, with the inside featuring signature Rainforest
items such as the 38-foot mushroom bar, Atlas man and braying, growling and roaring
animatronic animals.
The Oasis is also home to Garden Gate Gifts and the Outpost Shop two all-encompassing
gift/photo shops where guests can drop off film to be developed and pick up T-shirts,
stuffed animals and other souvenirs.
Analysis: The Oasis offers a beautiful natural setting for both entering and
exiting the park. Rushing through to get to "the lands" will mean missing some
of the quieter, more pristine animal settings of Disney's newest park.
