INNOVENTIONS:
Formerly CommunicCore, Disney reopened the area in 1994 as Innoventions, a showcase of
toy, electronic, computer and entertainment products where guests can try out the latest
in technology. The pavilion is split into two sections: Innoventions East and Innoventions
West.
Innoventions East is an exhibit hall focuses on consumer goods -- electronic appliances,
multimedia and gadgets -- and is oriented toward adults. A house that takes care of itself
is on display, and guests can surf the Web on Internet-wired computers.
The West side of Innoventions is the playground. It is very popular with children, and is
almost always bustling with youngsters and teens playing video games. The focus in
Innoventions West is on personal entertainment, and most of the pavilion is taken up by a
massive Sega-sponsored game room. Sega showcases its new video games here, and guests are
surrounded by Sega Saturn and Game Gear stations.
There are other computer stations surrounding the Sega area that allow guests to play
computer games, distort digital images and synthesize their voice. AT&T has a presence
on this side of Innoventions as well, as guests can send e-mail or fax postcards to people
on the other side of the globe.
New to Innoventions is "PlanetRider," a fantastic global journey
"riding" the Internet to places you've only dreamed of visiting. See super
computers come to life and discover the power of human imagination. Experience the wacky
world of science at the TechnoLab Theater, where fun and science explode. And don't forget
to smile at the Internet Postcard station, where you send your digital photograph home
through cyberspace.
