Epcot is a must
during your holiday, comfortable shoes are also essential as the park is open well into
the evening even in Winter months. Epcot also offers its guests World Showcase,
Eleven countries positioned around the huge
water lagoon, (Mexico, Norway, China, Germany, Italy, United States, Morocco, Japan,
France, United Kingdom and Canada), each country offering traditional dining shopping and
entertainment all provided by nationals from there respected country.
World Showcase opens one hour after Future
World, and is open one hour after Future World closes at night. To beat the crowd, try
moving directly to the far side of World Showcase as soon as that part of the park opens
in the morning, then move backward toward Spaceship Earth. Because the park is so large,
the park can accommodate more guests and the lines seem a bit shorter than those at other
Disney parks.
Millennium Village:
October 1, Disney kicked off its 15-month millennium
celebration at Epcot, featuring new attractions, new decor in Future World, special
entertainment and merchandise. Epcot's Future World has gotten a new look, from the huge
"2000" wand attached to the park's icon, Spaceship Earth, to huge purple canvas
banners strung throughout Future World plaza.
A smaller version of Epcot's World Showcase, the Millennium Village (located between
Epcot's Canada and the United Kingdom pavilions) highlights cultural, historical and
educational exhibits from Chile, Brazil, South Africa, Scotland, Sweden, Eritrea (East
Africa), Saudi Arabia and Israel. Guests can take a tour of Scotland with poet Robert
Burns, find out about the seasons of Sweden, send an e-mail prayer to the Western Wall in
Israel, and see a replica of Easter Island's giant statues. The Village also features
games and attractions such as a motion simulator ride through the history of Jerusalem, a
game in which guests have to maneuver a ball through the streets of Mecca, and a golf game
filled with information about great Scottish inventors.
